Hi Henry, We returned early Easter Sunday afternoon from a fantastic week-long trip to Tahiti and I wanted to let you know how amazing the trip was and how grateful we are that you steered us in that direction. Everything went off without a hitch starting with the flight on Air New Zealand. They made the long flight very bearable--the food was actually good and the flight attendants were attentive and friendly. When we arrived in Papeete, Yan, the surf guide and host, was waiting for us and from that moment on he was the perfect guide to have. As a native of the island, he has an insider's knowledge of every aspect of Tahiti and it seemed as if he knew everyone on the island. He and his family were warm, welcoming and very kind. The Pension Chayan is unbelievably gorgeous, we had a waterfall just outside our bungalow, and the bungalow itself was sparkling clean and comfortable. They fed us way too much and were the quintessential hosts, catering to us every minute. The weather, as you would guess, was incredible. as was the island itself. Yan knew the best spots for surfing each day and usually he and Scott were the only ones surfing for most of the mornings. When the swell got too big (amazing, huh?), Yan took us to some very cool places around the island in the boat and we had a great time exploring. We also went sea kayaking and snorkeling and swimming in the warm blue ocean waters. The Pension Chayan has a beautiful deck stretching out into the water with a big umbrella and deck chairs meant for hours of lounging. We were at Teahupoo watching the incredible swell that later that night tore down the scaffolding only recently put up for the contest in May. Yan said it was only the second time that has ever happened. That’s how incredible the swell was while we were there. All in all it was a dream vacation and one we would gladly sign up for again and again. Thank you so much for recommending it to us. I hope many more surfers have a chance to go to the Pension Chayan and experience the vacation of a lifetime.

 On a perfect stretch of Tahitian coast you’ll find a quiet tropical garden, with a tranquil waterfall and the beautiful family of Yannick and Chantal. This is Pension Chayan, where our family - 7 Australians and one Hawaiian - lived for two weeks. We were working very hard filming the surfing at the Billabong Pro at Teahupo’o … but each night we would return home and feel right at home with our new Tahitian family. Eating, swimming, laughing and relaxing, and most importantly, making some new friends. It makes us all sad to leave but we know we will be back and we can’t wait for our next visit to this very special corner of Tahiti. So many heartfelt thanks to the Salmon family from the TWI crew.

 The Tahitian people opened their hearts and souls to me over my short stay in this tropical dream. If you ever get the chance to visit Tahiti you must stay with the Salmon family at the Pension Chayan. Time just slipped through my fingers as we laughed through the beautiful days  with the TWI family and Yan and Chantal  family. What an experience - a memory I will hold close. Thank you Salmon Family. Love to you all. Look forward to my next visit.

Ici tout est plus beau que ce qu'on nous avait raconté. On nous avait dit : les gens sont gentils, c'est vrai mais, c'est plus que ça. On nous avait dit : vous verrez c'est super beau, c'est plus que ça et on s'efforce de faire passer ce qu'il y a d'extraordinaire dans les paysages de Polynésie. Nous avons à peine eu le temps de bouger un peu, mais cela nous a permis de faire de très belles images qui servent de toile de fond à nos reportages.

Every day we wish we were still on your island, at your home, riding your waves and having a fantastic meal with you!  We want to thank you again for your incredible hospitality and sincerity; you made us remember that there are still some real people in the world that make it a better place.  Thanks for all the early morning surf excursions and then being willing to go again in the afternoon!  Also, all the extra things like kayaking and snorkeling and getting sun on your private dock.  The bungalow we stayed in was so comfortable and clean.  But really just the attitude of everyone helped us have a perfect vacation.  We will definitely return as soon as possible and will think of you often.

Testimonial from recent stay at Pension Chayan. 
Firstly wanted to say how impressed I was with Tahiti and Pension Chayan. Surf was great and uncrowded, accommodation excellent (beautiful location, so peaceful) and 5 star + to Yan, Chantal and family. The homey atmosphere made the stay and will draw me back again and again. As you know, I've traveled extensively and stayed in some of the best places in the world - this experience was as good, if not better than any of them.
